| Gazing at the mound of mashed potato on his plate, electrician Roy Neary in the Steven Spielberg film Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) says: "This means something, this is important!" Neary embarks on an impassioned quest for the meaning of the images appearing in his mind. A search culminating in the creation of a huge earth mound in his living room. A sculptural monster and an interpretation of his dream. The works of the exhibition Close Encounters also testify to an unavoidable impulse to transmute obsessions into something visible: a quest that takes us through the jungle of disordered, isolated mental images to the never before seen artwork that resonates with the maker's illsions. The exhibition is on from Sunday 31 May until Sunday 5 July.
